Brain aneurysm treatment (coiling and clipping)

Treatment to seal a weak, bulging blood vessel in the brain before it bursts, or after it has bled.

Pending doctor check

What it is

In coiling, a thin tube is passed from the groin to the brain and fills the bulge with soft coils or a stent. In clipping, the surgeon opens the skull and places a small clip across the neck of the bulge.

Who needs it

People with a brain aneurysm found on a scan, or who have had bleeding in the brain from one.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 2 to 4 days after coiling; longer after clipping or bleeding. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
After coiling, most people return to normal activity in 1 to 2 weeks; after clipping, 4 to 6 weeks.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
