Autologous bone marrow transplant (own cells)

A stem cell transplant using the patient's own stem cells, collected and stored before high-dose treatment.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Stem cells are collected from the blood and frozen. High-dose chemotherapy is then given to destroy the disease, and the stored cells are returned by drip to restart the marrow.

Who needs it

Mainly people with multiple myeloma and some lymphomas.

Typical hospital stay
About 30 days at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Plan to stay in India for about 6 to 8 weeks. Energy returns over the following months.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
