Glaucoma treatment

Drops, laser or surgery to lower the pressure inside the eye and protect sight from glaucoma.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Glaucoma slowly damages the nerve at the back of the eye, usually because the pressure inside the eye is too high. Treatment lowers the pressure: first with eye drops, then with laser, and if needed with surgery that makes a new drainage path for the fluid in the eye.

Who needs it

People diagnosed with glaucoma, or with high eye pressure that puts their sight at risk.

Typical hospital stay
No hospital stay for laser; a day procedure or one night for surgery. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Laser needs only a short rest. After surgery, plan to stay in India for about 2 weeks for checks.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
