Kidney stone treatment

Breaking up or removing kidney and ureter stones, mostly without any cut.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Methods include shock waves from outside the body (ESWL), a thin scope with a laser passed up the urine tube (RIRS and URS), and keyhole removal of large stones through the back (PCNL).

Who needs it

People with kidney or ureter stones that cause pain, infection or blockage, or that will not pass on their own.

Typical hospital stay
Usually a day case to 2 days. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Most people return to normal activity in a few days. A small tube (stent) may stay in for 1 to 2 weeks.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
