Lymph node removal (lymphadenectomy)

Removal of lymph nodes near a cancer, to treat it or to see whether it has spread.

Pending doctor check

What it is

The surgeon removes the group of lymph nodes that drains the area of the cancer, for example in the armpit, groin, pelvis or belly. A pathologist then checks them for cancer cells.

Who needs it

People with cancers that spread through the lymph nodes, such as breast, skin, womb, prostate and bowel cancer.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 1 to 4 days, depending on the area. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Most people return to normal activity in 2 to 4 weeks. Swelling of the arm or leg can sometimes follow.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
