Lymphoedema surgery (lymphatic microsurgery)

Microsurgery that helps fluid drain from a swollen arm or leg, often after cancer treatment.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Lymphoedema is swelling caused when lymph fluid cannot drain. Under a microscope, the surgeon joins tiny lymph vessels to small veins so fluid can drain (lymphovenous bypass), or moves healthy lymph nodes to the swollen limb.

Who needs it

People with arm or leg swelling from lymphoedema, often after breast or gynaecological cancer surgery or radiotherapy, when compression and therapy are not enough.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 1 to 3 days in hospital. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Most people return to normal activity in 2 to 3 weeks. Swelling improves gradually over months, with continued compression.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
