Removal of part of the lower jaw, to treat cancer of the mouth or jaw bone, with rebuilding of the jaw.

Pending doctor check

What it is

The affected part of the lower jaw is removed. The jaw is usually rebuilt in the same operation with bone from the leg (fibula), joined with microsurgery.

Who needs it

People with mouth cancer that has reached the jaw bone, and some jaw bone tumours.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 10 to 14 days. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Plan for about 4 weeks in India. Eating and speech improve over the following weeks.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
