Maxillectomy (upper jaw surgery)

Removal of part of the upper jaw, to treat cancer of the sinus, palate or upper gum.

Pending doctor check

What it is

The affected bone of the upper jaw is removed. The gap is filled with a dental plate (obturator) or rebuilt with bone and tissue from elsewhere in the body.

Who needs it

People with cancer of the upper jaw, hard palate, upper gum or maxillary sinus.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 5 to 10 days. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Plan for about 3 to 4 weeks in India, with follow-up for the plate or rebuilt jaw.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
