Oculoplastic surgery

Surgery for the eyelids, tear ducts and the bones around the eye.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Operations on the eyelids (such as a droopy lid or an eyelid that turns in or out), the tear drainage system (such as a blocked tear duct) and the eye socket, including removal of growths and reconstruction after injury.

Who needs it

People with eyelid, tear duct or eye socket problems, for medical or cosmetic reasons.

Typical hospital stay
Usually a day procedure. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Swelling and bruising settle over 1 to 2 weeks. Plan to stay in India for about a week to 10 days, until stitches are removed.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.

Questions about this treatment

Will there be a visible scar?

Cuts are usually hidden in the natural creases of the eyelid, so scars are hard to see once healed.
