Pancreatectomy (pancreas surgery)

Removal of part or all of the pancreas, for tumours, cysts or long-term inflammation.

Pending doctor check

What it is

Depending on where the problem is, the tail, the body or the whole pancreas is removed. Some operations also remove the spleen. If the whole pancreas goes, insulin and digestive enzymes are needed afterwards.

Who needs it

People with pancreatic tumours or cysts, and some with severe chronic pancreatitis.

Typical hospital stay
Usually 7 to 12 days. Your hospital confirms it for your case.
Recovery time
Full recovery usually takes 6 to 8 weeks.

What affects the cost

Every patient gets their own estimate, in writing, from the hospital. These are the things that move it.

  1. 01

    The hospital and the city

Room types, equipment and running costs differ from one hospital to the next.

  2. 02

    The doctor

A surgeon's fee follows their experience and how complex the operation is.

  3. 03

    The technique and the materials

Keyhole or robotic surgery, and the make of any implant, can change the price.

  4. 04

    Your health

Other conditions, earlier treatment and the tests you need before treatment all count.

  5. 05

    How long you stay

Days in hospital, any time in intensive care and the weeks you spend recovering in India.

  6. 06

    What else you need

Physiotherapy, medicines to take home and follow-up visits are added only if your doctor asks for them.

The estimate is not final until the doctor has examined you in India. If anything changes, we explain it before you agree to it.
